Katsina Police Gear Up for August 1st Protest, Pledge to Maintain Law and Order

Katsina, July 29, 2024 - The Katsina State Police Command has announced its comprehensive preparations to maintain law and order during the nationwide protest scheduled for August 1st, 2024. This was disclosed in a press release by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa.

Recognizing the constitutional right to peaceful assembly, CP Aliyu emphasized the importance of ensuring public safety and preventing any infringement on the rights of others. To this end, a strategic meeting was held with heads of security agencies in the state to bolster existing security measures.

The Command lauded citizens who have chosen to withdraw from the protest to prevent potential violence and acknowledged those advocating for peace to avoid disruption by hoodlums.

The Katsina State Police, in collaboration with the military and other security agencies, is fully prepared to ensure that no breakdown of law and order occurs before, during, and after the protest. CP Aliyu urged law-abiding citizens to cooperate with security agencies and remain patriotic.

While respecting the right to protest, the Police Command called on organizers to ensure their events remain peaceful and lawful. Any act that endangers public safety or disrupts the peace will be dealt with decisively.

To effectively manage the protest, the Command has increased patrols, deployed specialized crowd control units, and established coordination with other security agencies. Organizers are required to provide detailed information, including proposed routes, protest duration, and contact details of leaders to facilitate adequate planning and ensure safety.

ASP Abubakar reiterated the Command's commitment to working with protest organizers to ensure a peaceful and orderly event.
